Obelisk Training Webinar 1
Understanding Ethical, Legal, And Social Implications in Childhood Obesity
On the 24th of September 2025, the Obelisk project launched the first in a series of training webinars hosted by our partner, the European Childhood Obesity Group (ECOG).
The opening session, Understanding Ethical, Legal, and Social Implications in Childhood Obesity, was delivered by Stuart McLennan and Marthe Smedinga from the Technical University of Munich, based on their work within Work Package 2 of the project. The overall objective of this work is to support the ethical development and implementation of preventative interventions for childhood obesity.
Their research involved a comprehensive systematic review of ethical issues raised by interventions and policies addressing childhood obesity. These findings play a key role in guiding well-informed and responsible decision-making in the design and delivery of prevention strategies.
The webinar explores several key ethical risks and challenges identified through this work, followed by an insightful Q&A discussion.
Watch the session to gain a deeper understanding of the ethical landscape shaping efforts to prevent childhood obesity.
