Organised by the European Childhood Obesity Group (ECOG), this congress serves as a vital platform for researchers, healthcare professionals, policymakers, and industry stakeholders to exchange knowledge, present cutting-edge research, and develop innovative strategies for obesity prevention and management.
What is ECOG?
Founded in 1991, the European Childhood Obesity Group (ECOG) is a multidisciplinary network of experts committed to understanding, preventing, and treating childhood obesity. ECOG fosters collaboration between scientists, healthcare providers, and policymakers to create evidence-based approaches that address obesity at both the individual and societal levels. Through its annual congress, ECOG facilitates critical discussions on the latest research findings and practical interventions, ensuring that efforts to combat obesity remain at the forefront of public health policy.
What is Obelisk?
Obelisk is a five-year European research project dedicated to preventing childhood obesity and enhancing the health, quality of life, and longevity of individuals of all ages. By integrating cutting-edge science with policy recommendations, Obelisk aims to create sustainable solutions that address obesity’s root causes. As a partner of ECOG, Obelisk collaborates with leading experts to translate research into impactful public health strategies, ensuring that effective interventions reach children and families across Europe.
The Importance of the ECOG 2025 Congress
Childhood obesity remains one of the most pressing public health challenges in Europe, with long-term consequences for both individual well-being and healthcare systems. The ECOG 2025 Congress plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between research and real-world solutions, providing an opportunity for stakeholders to discuss the latest scientific advancements, share best practices, and shape policies that promote healthier futures.
This year’s congress will explore a range of critical topics, including:
- Early-life interventions: The role of pregnancy, infancy, and early childhood in shaping long-term health outcomes.
- Nutritional policies and food environments: Strategies to promote healthy eating habits in schools, communities, and households.
- Behavioural and psychological factors: Understanding the social and emotional aspects of childhood obesity and developing targeted interventions.
- Digital health and technology: The impact of digital tools, AI, and telemedicine in monitoring and managing obesity.
- Public health policies and socio-economic influences: Addressing health inequalities and ensuring equitable access to obesity prevention programs.
