People

Philippe is a renowned geneticist known for his contributions to the field of diabetes research. He has made significant discoveries in the genetic basis of obesity and type 2 diabetes. Froguel has identified several gene variants associated with these conditions, shedding light on their underlying mechanisms. He has published extensively, received numerous awards, and held prestigious academic positions. His research has paved the way for personalized medicine approaches in diabetes and obesity, offering insights into prevention, diagnosis, and treatment strategies. Jules Morcel

Jules is Research Project Manager at Lille University Hospital. During his PhD, he specialised in preventive nutrition in pediatrics, and is currently involved in the coordination of several national and international cohort studies, aimed at assessing the impact of nutrition or physical activity parameters on future health.

He contributes to the management of the TAPE-Obesity study, part of WorkPackage 5 of the Obelisk project.

Frédéric Gottrand

Frédéric is currently Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Lille 2, and head of the department of Pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and Nutrition at the Children’s University Hospital, Jeanne
de Flandre, Lille, France. His PhD was performed at the Pasteur Institute, University of Lille in pediatric nutrition. In 1992 he became a staff member in the University Hospital of Lille and in 1997 was appointed Professor of Pediatrics there. He is an active member of several pediatric and nutrition societies, including ESPGHAN where he leads the Esophageal atresia working group, and was previously the president of the French Speaking Group for Pediatric Hepatology, Gastroenterology and Nutrition (GFHGNP). He is heading the French reference centre on congenital esophageal malformation, and co-chairing the esophageal workload of ERNICA (European Network on rare digestive diseases).

He published more than 600 papers published in peer-reviewed journals, 31 book chapters, more than 120 appearances in international conferences including 41 invited conferences in international congresses or meetings.
